Emily Bellhouse

Emily Bellhouse creates
unique and captivating installations of hand-crafted glass sculptures
placed in unusual settings. Her work is inspired by her first
memory of glass, where as a child she spent long summer days combing
English beaches for fragments of glass bottles. To her, these
were jewel-like treasures and keepsakes from an unknown and exotic
source. Her installations aim to recreate these early feelings
of surprise and wonder by placing captivating glass sculptures
in unexpected places for others to discover, looking to feed the
viewer’s imagination and inspire their curiosity.
Previous installations include a river exhibition at the Henley
Festival of Music & the Arts (Henley-on-Thames, July 2004)
with 30 large sculptures "hovering" in the water, and
a collection of over 100 pieces placed on East Sussex beaches at
low tide, as part of the Coastal Currents Arts Festival 2003.
Emily recently launched her new work of large-scale contemporary artworks ("Pixelated Imagery") at Art In Action 2005. Created from hundreds of small photographs embedded within glass, when viewed close up the piece appears to be a general composition of images and as the onlooker stands further away an overall picture will suddenly materializes. This work is inspired by her fascination
in her families’ vast collection of old sepia photographs
and the lost narratives that they hold.

Georgina Griffiths

Georgina
Griffiths’ textured and multi-layered glass pieces are a feast for the senses. However, beneath the seductive surface
of each piece lie faint traces of its unexpected origins. Georgina
finds inspiration in unusual and surprising subjects, often focusing
on things that are either hidden from the human eye or simply go
unnoticed and unappreciated by the passer-by.
Georgina is particularly
interested in designing site-specific work for both small and large-scale
architectural settings. In 2010, she completed a large-scale public artwork for a central London location (see above).
Georgina also makes colourful handmade
printed, fused and slumped glass vessels, wall lights and a range of jewellery and cufflinks. To buy
